This is because most trailer-mounted forklifts have at least five feet of overhang when mounted. A trailer also needs a minimum of 48″ overhang from the back tire to the end of the trailer to allow the forklift mounting kit to be installed. The deck overhang should be no more than 60″. Trailers under a certain length may also need a counterweight on the front.
